Automate Image File Renaming

this feature lets you automatically rename uploaded images based on the selected answer in a single choice question it’s useful when you want your image files to reflect what was selected—making them easier to organize, identify, and use in reports or exports you can rename media files in real time, right when the user selects an option and uploads a photo in the same field ✅ works with any single choice question ❌ only renames media inside that same control (not elsewhere in the inspection) what you can do rename uploaded photos based on the user’s answer use specific naming conventions for easier searching later improve organization and reduce manual renaming common examples use case what it does flood line detected if user selects "yes", renames the photo as “floodline visible” roof condition if user selects "damaged", renames the photo to “roof damage” inspection passed if user selects "fail", photo gets renamed to “failure image” water intrusion check if user selects "yes", names file “water intrusion detected” how to set up automated renaming 1\ add a single choice question to your template in the template builder, use a single choice control (e g , yes / no / na) 2\ open the logic tab click on the field and go to the “logic” tab in the right hand panel 3\ add logic based on the selected answer click add logic , then set the condition if single choice is equal to \[yes] add the action then rename media file to \[floodline visible] repeat for other answer choices if needed things to know media files are renamed as soon as they’re uploaded, after the answer is selected only affects images uploaded to the same control (not linked from other fields) doesn’t rename files retroactively supports static file names (dynamic inputs or variables are not yet supported) works with pdf report exports and backend file management if you have any questions or need help applying this feature in your workflow, reach out to our team at support\@visualogyx com or start a live chat from inside the platform
